Windshield - inside gasket

The inside windshield gasket is not stuck to the windshield in many places and condensation is getting between the gasket and windshield... is this normal? If not, what is the fix and how concerned should I be?

Any ideas on stopping the condensation would be appreciated as well! We have the drivers window cracked....

Cold windshield warm coach = condensation. Not much can be done about it. When it gets real bad we keep a towel rolled up against the windshield

We live full-time on-board and about seven months of that is in a humid environment - also known as the Pacific North West. (My rain gauge used to be a five gallon bucket that revealed most of the approximately 35 inches of rain we get in a winter).
Getting a dehumidifier (Home depot has several) is essential in dealing with condensation.

You can rig up a drain hose to drain outside, or into the drain in the shower - or you simply pull out the tank and dump it manually. It will fill once or twice a day. This device made a huge difference.

We also primarily heat with a couple of small electric heaters, and choose to have showers somewhere other than inside the unit. The shower compartment seems to make a nice plant conservatory for everything between orchids, spider plants and succulents.

Crack a window and run the bathroom fan on low. You just need to keep the air circulating. Breathing puts a lot of moisture in the air. Most of which ends up on the windshield. :(

We are running a dehumidifier, but it may not be big enough. Will watch the numbers a bit more closely.

Should I be worried about water getting between the gasket and the windshield?

Pretty much all you can do for the condensation is wipe the windows down with towels. Dry the bathroom out with the exhaust fan and an open window after showers.

In New England, in the wintertime, I had my go-to inside windshield scraper, and a towel laid out to catch the frost.

Fun fact:  You donate about 1 pint of "insensate perspiration" while you sleep.

What size  dehumidifier are you running?

How many pints per 24 hours is it removing?

The water won't hurt the gasket but if water is dripping down behind the dash then yes you should be worried. :)

If your windshield is moving in the gasket you need to have it reset. The only place I'd have this done is FOT or MOT. They will need to remove windshield and they can easily crack/break on removal or insertion. You want to be in a place that have the windshields on hand in case that happens.

EDIT: just reread your post and see you have a cracked windshield. I'd be planning a trip to Nac.

What size  dehumidifier are you running? I think it holds 2 pints... rarely dump it. It has a display and is currently showing 42% humidity.

How many pints per 24 hours is it removing? I'd guess less than half a pint a day.

No crack in our windshield, just some little rock chips. Will dig around under the dash to see if water is going through.

1/2 pint a day from a dehumidifier is likely not worth the effort.

Here is a good review of 30 pint dehumidifiers.  That is what we have used for decades on motorhomes and sail boats:
