Question about your mudflap

How far is the bottom of your back mudflap off the street? I just rebuilt mine using the specs of my old one but it sure seems close, 1.5-2". Where's your ride at???

Assume you have verified correct RIDE HEIGHT, as that will certainly affect mudflap ground clearance.

Brett, when you re-built ours/yours, did you go to the original height or trim it?  I've got plenty of clearance! ^.^d

As I recall (over a decade ago so memory on exact height kind of fuzzy) it was set to OE height AND ride height was at factory specs.

But, basically you want it low enough to catch rocks coming off the rear tires, but high enough that it does not drag the pavement which would send up many other rocks into the toad.

Reality is that it is more cosmetic than functional-- very few rocks will make it from the rear wheels far enough back to make the mud flap functional.

Many coaches have no mud flap and have not seen damage to toads because of it.  Have seen toads "pelted" with rocks when on poorer roads and too low a mud flap.

I replaced the wheel mudflats with some very thick conveyor Belt provided by 4wheelers  and I only clear the road about 2" when at ride height so what few rocks etc get past these the rear usually deflects.  Have been thinking about replacing rear but not high on priority list.
