RK12963 Retrofit Kit / Questions

It does not seem like anything is simple!

I started this, what seemed to be a rather simple, project today.  As you can see, the old filter could possibly be the original to the coach being my coach only has 45K miles on it.  Here are my questions that I have not found in the instructions, or on Barry's website.

1) I have sediment in the washable section of this filter.  I have not figured out how to remove this section.  I have removed the thumb bolt above it and I am really not sure what that does but it did not release the top block as I had read.  What am I missing?

2) The retrofit has two wires coming from the probe but the old had one. How is this reconnected?

3) Does anyone have any additional knowledge that they would like to share on this project? 

I decided to do the retrofit and not the series 700 because this system seemed to be performing and I saw a savings.  That said I have now cleaned the old unit and just need a little more help.

I, like many others, have replaced my primary filter system.  Maybe you should reconsider.

I am no expert on this, but I would expect the old one was grounded through the frame on coach and the new one may have a hot wire and a ground.  Pull it up on  U tube there're usually  are some videos that can help

The project is complete and here are the details for someone looking later.

I never got a clear answer of where or how the top block comes off. I did read take the thumb screw off and it will, I hope the attached picture helps others.  I finally took a screw driver and a mallet and lightly tapped it upwards and it started to move. The connections is different then I would have thought, seems like an efficient connection.

I heard back from Racor, one wire needs to go to ground and it does not matter which.

Cleaning the strainer took more time than expected since it is a sealed unit. O-rings looked great. The directions say to pre-fill the filter (there is a hole in the bottom) I did not do that. 

Once back together I hit the air purge on the back control box (lit up as expected). I went back to the filter and pushed the Schrader valve a few times (add a rag to your poker to catch the spray). I went to start the coach, expecting  to need to crank it a bit more than normal, the coach fired right up. I kept a high idle but never got even a sputter from the motor.
