Bay Lock Actuator

After fixing the Remote Entry System I discovered one actuator not working.  I removed it and couldn't get to turn freely by hand. I checked for power at the connector and we have power.  I looked at the actuator an seen the shell cover was screwed on.  I'm the of type that if it can be taken apart it's coming apart and I'm going to peak inside.  Well inside are two rubber bumpers that serve as a gear stop/cushion.  They get banged pretty good and the bumpers came off of the pins and were jammed in the gears.  Reinstalled the bumper and added a few drops of Lock Tight Super Glue and its working great. So, before you decide to replace your non working actuator take it apart and look at before you pitch it.

Attached is a picture of the opened actuator and the bumpers in question.

Hope this helps,

Most of the ones I have replace have had stripped gears. If you can get another few years of of them, great.  Time for a couple replacements for when the time comes.

I have one that isn't locking, haven't had time to look at it. Just lock it by hand for now.

I had a couple of the originals stop working and you couldn't open the bay door with a key, a plastic gear stripped. I replace all the actuators a couple of years ago very inexpensive Zone Tech actuators from Amazon. Work surprisingly well, less than $14 for four. I bought extras in case one failed but so far no failures.

Foretravel sells a replacement kit with a mounting plate, VHB tape, an actuator arm and a wiring harness.  I don't recall the price but it was more than the ones mentioned above. They work well.  I got several at the Grandvention in Indiana a few years ago.  I have replaced about 2/3 of mine now.

Anyone have a model of the one on the front generator door? Lower actuator matches what they used on the bays but the upper ones look similar to what was pictured from the door.. More flat and rectangle.. I need 2 and they didnt seem to have any numbers I could see.
