Generator Hatch Latch

This comes up from time to time, the generator hatch doesn't open when you pull the handle. Mine does this from time to time so I decided to adjust the cable. Turns out, at least on this 270, you can adjust the cable to be longer but not shorter as there are no threads available on the clevis. Anyhow, I adjusted it by filing down the base of the clevis maybe 3/32" of an inch or so. Works great.

I cleaned it up when I got this one. Just give it a lick once in awhile. Also, the camera is very forgiving.

You can always run a thread die on the rod and add more threads.  I found that cleaning and lubricating everything works welll also.

I wonder if that material is Foretravel specific? I'm in the process of redoing mine and can't find anything like it on the web.

My latch was the same.  I lubed the cable and all the other parts and removed the small set nut on the clevis.  That gave me the needed adjustment.

On ours, the generator hatch was nearly impossible to open without using some added leverage. After trying every approach to lube, adjust, reroute, etc. the OEM cable, I replaced it with one I found in stock at a marine supply store near Shelter Island in San Diego. Here is a post with some info, though possibly the OEM cable is still available at FOT. The hatch release has functioned flawlessly since I installed the Glendinning bi-directional cable, which I believe was intended for throttle control or maybe even steering on outboard motors.
