Captain's chair leg rest doesn't work

Our Captain chair foot rest is locked into place.
Any idea what is going on.
All of the other parts of the electric work fine.

I have the same issue. On mine it appears the motor is attempting to extend foot rest for a second or two and then it seems to bind up...foot rest is now hanging as yours is not retracted back. I have not had a chance to look at it yet...?

On my FT it was the gear drive that failed. Ordered a new one from the chair manufacturer. There should be a tag on the inside of the skirt. I had help which made it a lot easier. The electrical connections need to be removed, the the 4 bolts that hold the chair to pedestal. Flip the chair over so getting at the gear box is then quite easy. The manufacturer said in their directions that it may be necessary to cut off some of the treaded rod. However, In my case the threaded rod was perfect length. The actual gear box and threaded rod come as one piece. My chair was a Villa and the part and shipping was less than $60, straight from factory. Be sure to specify that it is leg rest as there are 2 of these threaded gear boxes under the chair.

I have the same problem.  Best I could tell from some old posts was that we have a "Smith 210001 power worm drive" that controls the footrest.  When I called Villa and spoke with them they said for a 2000 Foretravel the retrofit part was $125 (not sure if any shipping was involved) and sent the attached picture saying they no longer made the original part.  I looked on some other forums and then googled the gentleman below.  He said send him a picture of the part and he would get me what I needed.  He said it could be 1 of 3 parts anywhere from $20-$50 bucks (again not sure on shipping).  I asked if I could share his info and he welcomed the business.  So take a picture or give him the info and he should have the part.  I assumed it was his company????
