I'll take your word for that, although I have never actually searched for a right-side hinged microwave.
But, why stress over this fact? They make left-hinged models with the door hinge moved slightly "inboard". This creates clearance necessary so the unit can be mounted flat up against a wall on the left side, and the door still opens 90 degrees. Many Forum members have replaced the OEM microwave ovens with various newer models that work just fine.
