Zip Dee “lost pull strap” from newbie “ to Foretravel

Bought from MHT,  99,  295. Quick demo at MHT wet rain day' pulled the big awning out, let it roll back up, looks like new.  As did the rest of the awning's.
GREAT.

Away we went, some days later, think "will" learn the tricks this zipdee?? Unhooked various per book, walked back to center, OOPS, no pull strap?  Where did it go?  My guess the spring took couple more turns it is rolled inside the cover.

My best thought, (THIS IS WHERE U OLD HANDS COME IN)  rope on the rear Stanton try to pull it enough til the strap appears??  Hope there is a better idea??

Thanks loads,      hope all are safe from this latest gift from China, reminds me of Polio,  that was a real scare.

Yup, you need to pull on the upper part of the awing arms to deploy it enough to grab the strap.

Easier if two of you-- one on the front arm, one on the rear.  Not a lot of muscle needed if the line is near the top and of course the locks are open.

Have even done it from the ground with two strong guys bu reaching up as far as they can and pulling-- way more muscle needed this way and the leverage is poor.

Also, if you are pulling to the side when rolling up rather than straight on, the loop can disappear.

Actually ZipDee recommends holding the strap to the side a bit when stowing the awning. Prevents the strap from bunching up in the center.

My solution to the disappearing strap was to tie one end of a rope to the top of each arm, the pull down at the center on the rope.

We carry two (2) awning pull rods. Just in case the strap disappears. One awning pull rod on each end and the strap magically appears.

We've been living in our U225 for a year and a couple of months now, and I too lost the loop, the cause of which was not using the brace arms, my expecting ratchets such as I had been used to using.

I got up on the roof with some wooden blocks and pried each end away from the coach using the blocks to hold the roller in place.

Once the heat hits, the main awning goes in and out on a daily basis to shield us from the afternoon sun.  This maneuver goes quickly with practice.

I had the measles and chicken pox, before the vaccine arrived, and I remember the fear on my parents faces.

My trick is to ease the awning in using the hook tool to hold the center strap.  The loop at the end of the strap is always exposed just enough.  The people that have trouble are usually the ones that start the awning furling and then just let go of the center strap.

Thx to all,  got the "ease it in"
'tittle angle on the strap"
last to put it in was Salesman at MHT, it was raining a bit.  Sure he let it go.  Although at the time I looked possibly a foot sticking out.  Thus my assumption as it was bouncing along the spring took a couple more turns.  Away it went.  Will add a extra loop, when we get back to it.

AGAIN THANKS ALL,
Glade to know I am not the 1st to have this happen
