North Star Battery

Has anybody ever heard of or used this brand of battery. They were about a year old in our coach(house batteries) when we got it. AGM 1450CCA & 500 minutes reserve capacity.  Battery life wasn't good when I got it then discovered that the inverter was not on the correct setting. Just recently started having problems but found slightly loose cable connections. i know both of these issues are hard on a battery. I'm hoping they recover.

"NorthStar is an international company, which produces lead–acid batteries and battery cabinets. NorthStar's products are used in Telecom Power Systems, Uninterruptible Power Supplies and Engine Start applications."  The batteries are built in the US.

Looks like an excellent battery, link with specifications follows. Best of luck, yes maintenance and monitoring of house batteries are important.  To help, you might research the Victron 712 which is easy to install and let's you monitor on your cell phone.

My understanding of North Star batteries are that they are very good batteries. I don't see them around as much as I used to. But is Jack said they're used in a lot of commercial applications. But any battery whether good or not we'll be destroying if not charged properly or installed correctly. Make sure all your connections are tight your wires are not corroded and the proper size cables are used. Check with a voltmeter to make sure that the proper voltage is being applied and check with the manufacturer to see what the exact settings should be.

Thanks for the input. The North Star web site did look good, just hadn't heard of anybody using them.  The connections were relatively clean but I could move some of the cables. I disconnected them all cleaned and coated and installed tight. The problem went away so I'll watch and see. Watching the aims Power monitor, initial charge up to 14.7v then backs down to maintain at 13.8v. Seems to match what I see on the battery requirements.
