Large cylinder on engine coolant line near radiator

Can anyone tell me what this component is?  It's on the engine coolant line near the bottom of the radiator.

Assuming you know it's got a drip, get some better quality constant tension hose clamps and try them.

Thanks for the replies.  Yes I noticed the drip, that's what got me looking closer at the cylinder.  It seems as though someone has replaced some clamps but did not want to be bothered with finding the correct ones.  I will search for them.  Thank you.

During my recent trans and radiator fluid service I replaced all the hoses on the radiator and cooler. Original and updated constant clamps were available and not to expensive. In relooking at your photo after a drip was reported I noticed that that hose looks odd. For me the replacement cost well outweighed the failure.

Some of the short hoses that connect the radiator to the engine are what's called "bubble hoses". They are designed to tolerate the shaking of the engine and the stationary radiator.
