86 Grand Villa Tag Axle Air

Hello.  In a drivers side rear basement we have a air filler line we use for " ride height" air adjustments,  same as front we can add air to the air bags inside the front coil springs .

But we also have gauges on the dash for using Tag Axle Air... where does the air come from for these Tag Axle Bags ?  Original operating manual states to use 35 lbs on highway but does not state where to air up ..

Thanks for any help you can provide.  This is a P30 FEG. 33 GV

I looked at one like yours.  It had a separate  12v compressor near the tag bags with a self contained level/ pressure maintainer .
    Follow the lines ...
More modern tags from FT seem to have the rear axle air bags all tied to the same pressure line , according to the last few discussions regarding tag loading.

Thanks ..  i have posted a photo of the  Tag Axle section of the original Foretravel Operators Manual ...  says all operations are by using the two pull buttons for each left and ride side.  No discussion of where this independent compressor might be located.  We have wiring diagrams and i will do deep dive to see if there is a connection illustrated between dash controls and the bags.

Thanks

Whats under the stairs?  If it works you should be able to hear it , engine off.

Wiring diagrams and fuse / breaker lists do not show a air compressor power source.  With gas engine running and master switches in on position. The pull and push switches on dash near tag axle air gauges have no function and we don't hear any functionality.

We will keep searching.  Any issues with driving with no air on tag axles .  I read online only issue is air helps with turning

I think it's under the coach in the rear by the air tag.  I knew for sure where it was and showed my Freeman when I walked him through the coach on delivery new.  Long ago

Did you figure out your tag axle air compressor?

It appears that the system was disconnected from the dash gauges and auto fill from an on-board compressor.

We located an air hose line with a Schrader valve in the black / gray tank dump compartment.  In our garage we have an air compressor we use to refill tag axle bags.  On the road we check air pressure and refill if necessary

We keep about 50-70 lbs in the bags while traveling.

We are beginning to source the replacement bags that are inside the coil springs on front suspension.

Another good/better option on the Chevy P chassis vs front air bags: Supersteer Products - Henderson's Line-Up Brake & RV Inc.

Click on the coil spring videos and/or go to their products for the P chassis.

You will likely want to replace the ball joints at the same time.

And not replacing the air bags inside the coil springs or in addition to.  Looks like great info to help our ride and stability.  Good idea about ball joints.

The new springs (above) replace both springs and air bags.  They are speced for your actual weight, vs the original which used under-sized coil springs and then supplemented with air bags with adjustable PSI to achieve the correct spring rate.
