1986 3800 ored fuel sending unit and drum brakes

Hi every one. Been lurking since January 2020 when I picked up my foretravel. Lots of good info on this site. Here are some questions I have not found answers to.

I'm looking for a new fuel sending unit. Found mine to be inop. I have already had the joy of dropping the tank to verify. If anyone knows the ohm range of the stock sender that would be helpful in replacement as well.

Second I just finished rear breaks I lucked out on the rear drums, they were near new and just needed shoes.

Luck ran out on the front. Drums where deep grooved and out of spec. Local truck parts shop Franklin truck parts could find nothing for rear drums. Front drums they seem to be close but having issue still. Does any one have any numbers other than the Oshkosh 2BV227 part number in the book that came with the motorhome?

Any info for sourcing drums front or rear would be appreciated.

Not sure but think around 200 ohms on the sender. Fortravel should know and might even have it in stock.

Seeing you are here is So. Cal. try Fleet Pride they might be able to cross reference. Here in the San Fernando Valley is a shop called Valley Friction. I took my drum from a crane there and they matched it up over the counter.

Just to update all.

Franklin truck parts contacted meritor who had drawing for my durms. They said it would be anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months or more for a production run on them to a tune of 1100 a drum.

Upon further investigation Franklin was able to find in stock drums that had a wider shoe contact area and a smaller hub pilot. They were able to turn down the shoe contact area to the same as mine and broach out the hub pilot to match mine. This was all done for 550 per drum including the drum in a weeks turn around time.

Only other issue was the lug holes were 1" where as mine where 7/8". We figured this would not be a problem because the drum was hub centric... We thought....

Upon my initial install and adjustment I found the drum was not centric. It was grabbing the breaks bad in one spot.

Got on my old lathe and machined some press in reducers to go from 1" lug holes to a snug 7/8". Once these where on the drum spun centric.

Next project in the far future will be the sending unit in the tank.
