Combined Black/Grey Tank

My 09 Nimbus apparently has one combined Black/Grey tank yet I have both a black and grey switch in the water bay.  As I understand the manual if I select black to empty it empties the whole tank.  If I keep black closed and open only grey it's a bypass of the black???  How does that work and what happens if you flush the toilet with grey open???

On my coach the grey water switch is designed so that if you are at a campground with hookups and don't want to fill your holding tank with grey water , you turn on that switch and all grey water will by pass the tank and drain into the flex hose which is plugged into the septic tank at your CG. Simply put your grey water exits the coach directly and does not fill the holding tank.

Some folks also do this when boondocking and water the plants with grey water.

Thanks much - it's what I thought but thought I'd check since I'm use to separate tanks
