Air Leak Help

I have an air leak from what I presume is pressure regulator.  The regulator in question is locate outside of the generator compartment on the passenger side.  It is immediately adjacent to a "norgren valve."  The air "leak" seems to be coming from the side of the value as shown by the arrow in the photo or is this a normal pressure relief port?

I am not having any luck locating the regulator on the Air Schematic in my coach's manual.

What is this air system for?

Any suggestions for finding the specs for the regulator before I just remove it?

Any suggestions would be appreciated>

Reece1975 recently posted about an air leak recently (4 days ago).  The only regulator that I had experience with regulated the air pressure to the front air bags.  This is what it looked like:

No, it should not be leaking.

I will hazard a guess and say it is part of the control system for your air step?  If you have a air step, that is.  Or, perhaps, the step well cover.

Those pressure regulators are prone to failure.  You can find a replacement at Lowes, Home Depot, probably NAPA or most any store that sells air tool supplies.  Take the old one with you so you get the correct range pressure gauge and port arrangement.

It is for the step we'll cover. 2003s didn't have air actuated steps, they are electric. As Sven said, any home improvement store will have what you need.

My 03 has an air operated step. My actuator like that is for 4 air lines and I'm replacing it this week along with the step air rams. On mine 2 airlines go to the step , 1 for in and 1 for out and 2 go to the step we'll cover, 1 in 1 out

My regulators for step and the sliding step cover (that covers stair well) are located directly behind the bottom step in the basement in a "box".  Sorry for it being out of focus.  The white wall in the background is the wall of the bottom step.  They power the small actuators that drop that step down.  The large cylindrical actuator (ram) that powers the sliding well cover is attached to the basement overhead.  I disconnected that on my coach since it was not securely attached to the overhead and I am unable to fix that (no backing to screw into).  I have to manually pull and push that slide if I want to use it.

I replaced the fold down step with an electric extending step. The inside sliding step cover cylinder and controls leak and are hard to get at with the electric step in place.  So ... I added a 12v NC solenoid valve to the air line that supplies the sliding step cover and used an ignition powered source (with a switch to interrupt it) to open the air line while the coach is running.  With the switch I can close the solenoid while driving if we want to.

Another way to work around a troublesome leak.

Roger,

I think you put me on the right track.  My 2003 coach has an electric step.  I could not figure out to what the value was sending air.  I totally forgot about the inside stop cover, because it is not something we have gotten in the habit of using.

I took the valve out yesterday and it looks the like the local NAPA store has or can get a replacement.

rbark,

I didn't read you post carefully enough, but I think you are spot on.....the step well cover!

I got the valve out yesterday and it looks like NAPA is my closest source for a replacement.

Are you sure the leak is coming from the regulator, because the regulator is located right against the pneumatic 4-way valve that has two air release ports facing the regulator.  And these exhaust ports can leak, and usually can be easily repaired.

I am fairly positive.  Soapy water and physical handling made me think it is the regulator.  I purchased a replacement and will install it in the next day or two.....that will be proof if I was correct or not!  If I am wrong, I guess I have a spare!
