As a reminder, when anything does not work right and has any electrical connection, the first thing to do is pull all the battery terminals/connections and clean like you were going to eat with them. Never hurts to put a voltmeter on the start battery as the engine is started to see the voltage drop. Also, do a feel test with your hands on the terminals after the engine has cranked. They should be cool. Warm is a sign of resistance and a poor connection.

Pierce, I never thought of that extremely easy and logical check.  I will add that to my 'after start walk around' check.
