Water filter

So after having sticker shock on replacement and spares I converted to a regular activated carbon in line filter. Have used many places with good results and can carry several spares  Clips are also a nice added accessory

Good idea Scott.  We have been using these for years for both filling the tank and while hooked up to City water.  A little more expensive, but filters all the water we use.
I like the idea of adding another inline unit for the kitchen sink use. A nice back up for anything that might be in the tank.

11 something each for four. Never could find the bulk.  Yes I was looking at those also or a dedicated system. I really like disposable housing, not very green but real clean. but I like

At that price in size I can't really imagine that there's much Kdf in it. The kdf filter I use in my 10-in big blue housing cost $50 made by pentair and last 6 months or more. I have three of those 10 inch big blue filters in line, the first one being a spun sediment filter only, the next one is the kdf/carbon block, and the third one being a ceramic filter. I'm sure it's Overkill for some areas but for others not so much it does reduce flow a  bit, but not too bad. I took all three filters out recently to sanitize the system but haven't done it yet. Without any filters in line yeah I have really high water pressure on the water pump which is the only way I go by never hooking up to city water. For some people the sound of the pump might be annoying but for me it's reassuring to know that if I spring a leak somewhere in the water system I will know it by hearing the pump run. So $10 a filter I would say that you get what you pay for. But do it makes you happy if it's works for you go for it. One other thought I don't like external filters. If the sun's hitting them they can get quite warm I would think. Also I don't like the idea of someone being able to mess with it. Maybe a non-issue but it's how I think. I prefer my filters tucked away inside my wet Bay locked.

I'm sure the big cartridge filters are MUCH better than the throw aways, but after over 20 years using the Camcos, haven't had any issues.  For all I know it make be a mental thing and the filters don't do much.  But as they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
