Wireless back up camera

I am researching back up camera and wondering if anyone with a Foretravel have replace there system with a wireless system or is a wire system better I'm look at one rear back up camera and two side cameras the system I have how is still working just one rear camera and I think I can still use the old wire?

I have the same year coach as you do and could not find an adaptor to go to the original wire. I had to solder on a connector to the original wire to mate with my new camera. It is working fine now.

What make and model did you put in to replace the old system and are you happy with it

So I did get the

Friday night at 10pm and ran out of time to power up last night. Hope to this night. It's the one you showed prior and it is hard wired. I've played with some of the wireless and haven't had good luck. I'm also using the dvr function as mobile security 24/7 while we are out. Will know more tonight although is Mother's Day and I think half the People in Boulder over eighty will be at my hose for dinner. I'll sneak out later though and DW doesn't know I'm off tomorrow so I'll get some stuff done on the coach.

When we got our coach in 2013 the backup camera was pretty much dead, so we put in a wireless one. Don't remember the brand now, but it works just fine. Cost was about $600, as I remember, but that was at Camping World. I suspect that the same one would be less than that now from an on-line seller. You could probably do better for less that way, as I'm sure that they have gotten better in the past seven years or so.

It is not hard to pull new cable from the front to the rear through the wall to roof extrusion. I can send pictures to assist.

Wireless may be better now than when I tried it but at that time it would frequently lose connections, wired is very stable.

I installed the best wireless Tadi Brothers had to offer, and was not happy at all with its performance. It was unreliable, worked sporadically. I moved the antenna to several spots trying to improve performance, did not help. I then purchased a wired system from Tim at RV Cams. This was a single rear camera system with new monitor. They included instructions how to use the existing front to back wire. The install was easy, performance was very good. I recommend you contact RV cams. Their knowledge and support is well worth the slightly higher pricing

I have the e bay wireless and found it pretty good . Small issue for center not being in the center of the screen but the function is good
It seems like a new ground at the rear helped a lot and if the antennas can see each other , it works better .
I bought another for the right side blind spot.

I like to see your pictures Roger I removed the inside cover in the back to see the camera and wires and try to figure out the best way to run the wires to the front I like what Tadibrothers have to offer and their options and I think wires are the best option . I think I can use the power from the old camera but would have to run the wiring for the picture and if I use two cameras the way you have it ,it would take two sets of wires

Rick, I tried running fish tape (electrician wire puller) down the extrusion on driver side where the original cable is run and kept hitting something and could not push fish tape through extrusion. So I opted to use passenger side extrusion. At the very back inside the overhead cabinet above the head of bed when you pull the white trim off it exposes a piece of aluminum. I took a
1-1/2" hole saw and cut a hole through this piece to get to the fish tape. When I pulled the new coax cable I also pulled 4- 12 gage wires and 2-10 gage wires to the front of the coach. These are my "just in case" wires, if I ever need to run additional power from front to back I already have the wires in place.

Like Chris did but down the Dr side. Fish tape from back to front.
Fed through the corner extrusion.
Down through cabinet bottom and behind front window trim.
And into the dash space.
Rear camera wires go through rear upper cabinet. And into the camera space, all sealed up of course.
Monitor mounted where old Audit screen was.
And the rt side camera, wide angle, IR lighting.

Roger, I'm glad there are guys like you on the forum--When I'm doing something and get involved taking pictures is the last thing on my mind--but I have sure used a lot of yours for reference

So powered up camera and it has traveling interference lines in three of the four cameras. I'll contact manufacturer but my gut feeling is it will get sent back. Did not operate using extension cords but I can't see how that would reduce the interference. Operated of a optima battery for power. About as clean as it gets. Night vision seems okay for as far as I could tell powered up in the dark shop. Tried swapping cameras around with no change.

Looks good Roger you did a good job I'm going to try to do the same the pictures are a good help my bathroom shower is on the drivers how did you get behind it. Or is yours on the passenger side

Shower is in the dr side, the channel runs the full length of the coach, in one end, out the other.

Going to look for this channel didn't realize it was there it makes sense that they were think it's a Foretravel

I've had this system in for two years now. Very clear picture, no interference, and super easy install. I powered the camera off the running light circuit as I always drive with the lights on. Hooked up the monitor to a hot wire with ignition on. Monitor comes on when engine is running, camera comes on when I turn on the headlights. I did install a on/off switch in the power line just in case for some reason I wanted to turn off the monitor.

I know some don't like the wireless systems, but I have no issues with this one. I only use it to keep an eye on my toad.

A while ago I purchased a sealed in box system from the original purchaser who sold his coach before he could install it. It would not work as Tadi Bros. had supplied a mismatched transmitter and receiver set. When I contacted Tadi Bros their attitude was that as I was not the original purchaser they would not help me even though I offered to purchase a new set of trans/receivers from them. They eventually sold them to me. Terrible attitude and customer service. Even though I have line-of-sight between the units it loses signal all the time.

I will return to the wired set up as it's more reliable.
