Leaving fresh water in FT

I usually use my FT more and leave unused water in the tank. How long is to long?

I really don't worry much about it. If it sits in the tank over a couple of mos I'll drain it. But I also drank out of the garden hose when I was a kid. 😎

I make sure to fill it when we get home or shortly before so that it is nearly full. We are on well water but even if nor I throw in a tbsp or two of bleach in the particulate filter so that everything gets cleaned.  If it sits mor than about 6 weeks I drain, water the garden and refill.

I have never worried about dumping the water unless for some reason I load up with bad tasting water. I also drink the water from the tank.

When I get home, after I dump the black/gray, then I run the water in the sinks for 10-15 minutes to rinse out the gray tank.  Dump again and look for clear.  If not, I'll do it a 2nd time.  This usually empties all but a small amount out of the fresh tank.  I usually try to fill right before leaving, so the water doesn't get warmed up sitting.  With 100+ ambient temps, even the fresh (cold) gets warm.

We'll be home tomorrow and then the coach goes into storage until it either sells or we're ready to head back out as full-timers. We're about 4 hours away, so we'll be up a bit earlier than usual so I can get the dishes done, then I'll dump the tanks and rinse them as best I can. Whatever water is left in the fresh water tank will be drained.

Later on I'll winterize the coach (if is isn't gone by then) and that will be it until school lets out. Of course, if someone buys it before then they can do whatever they want.
