generator box insulation

I'm almost finished with inserting my insulation in the generator compartment.
I only need a 7 inch by 27 inch strip.  It's one inch thick with foil on the one side and adhesive on the other.
Anyone have any leftovers.
By the way I used a tape that was good up to 400 degrees F direct heat and 2.000 degrees radiant heat.  It was $20.00 for 15 feet.  The other choice was good up to 300 degrees direct heat for only $9.00 for a longer roll.  Is he second choice sufficient?

I would think it's a crap shoot as to what will work and live in that environment. One may work well but adhesive dries out and fails other gets soft and releases. I like the idea that it cures and bonds and become unremovable. IMO you really won't know for several years if you have chosen the correct tape regardless of its rating. Exactly same thing with the soundproofing you have chosen to use. You didn't list and provide a purchase link for what you have used so anything I was to say about what you have used would be guessing at the very best. I'd like to say that generally better products cost more, but completely unknown.

Personally I prefer the peace of mind of also having a mechanical method of fastening.
I am reminded of a time when we purchased three five gallon containers of driveway sealer. I asked the department person how good the "Five Year Warranty" (or whatever the warranty period was) and her reply was:"Until you get past the cashier/checkout." She then proceeded to explain that the product manufacturer could come up with all kinds of reasons for failure and they were all based on the purchaser's incompetence in applying and the method used, and there was nothing we could do to deny their claim!

As I currently have my genny out, I would like to see the products that you had to choose from and the product you chose.

I ordered this from amazon and will be replacing the insulation in my Generator compartment as soon as it comes. The genny is out and I figured I might as well do those things that would require the gennys removal while it is out.  Spark Plugs and Insulation. Will screw large washers to add to the adhesive as a backup to hold it in.

I installed the insulation referenced above. It comes folded but I laid it in the sun for a day and it mostly smoothed out.
After removing the old insulation I scrapped the remnants off but did not try to remove all the stickum . Cutting each pare oversize I stuck the top, then the back, then the sides to the metal walls. This is thinner than the original and much lighter. the stickum works VERY well. I am debating adding large flat washers screwed into the metal as a backup but am not seeing a real need and don't want to provide sound and vibration a path into the coach. I seared all the edges with Aluminum tape and it even with some overlap in places it looks pretty good! I may order some more and do the Eng compartment sometime in the future!

If you still need a 7 x 27 piece of insulation I have a bit. It's silver and I did my engine bay and overhead electronics bay with it.  I don't get down to the slightest of details like many of you do so I can't answer any questions about it except I glued it on and I will give you a piece of it. Pm if you need as I can spare what you need.

It took more than I expected, but I still had enough to finish:)
The aluminum tape REALLY cleans it up. There was some overlap as I did not cut the pieces exact and only have the Genny out far enough to get to the back spark plug and regulator. I had to get a jack to hold it that far out and got an ATV jack that I can use for other things. If the sound reduction is still good I will prolly order enough to do the eng bay at some point. Here are some shots showing the jack, the inside of the Generator bay and the relative thickness of the new and old insulation.

Does anyone know what is on the other side of the big 3in washers (2) in the top of the generator bay? Seems to be under the sofa? I tried to remove one and it seem to just spin. IAC, I covered the over with new insulation.

Looks nice, I got mine from FT a few years back and it wasn't very expensive.

They are under the couch behind the driver on the outboard edge of the top of the generator compartment.  one toward the front and the other closer to the rear, both on the outboard edge of the compartment. Are there seat belts for the couch? They certainly attach to something. I figured that they would attach to captive nuts, but when I tried to loosen one, it seemed to loosen then spin and not get any looser. Tightened it as much as I could and covered it with insulation. :(
