6V92 mechanic plus...

Anybody know of a shop with a mechanic who can work on a Detroit 6v92 in a '94 U300 in Southern California?
 
I am losing oil (one gallon per 500 miles or so) at the back of the engine where it meets the transmission, and am told that a repair requires a lift and transmission jack. So... not only am I looking for a guy with the skills to do the job, he also needs access to the equipment.
 
We're presently in Orange County, but should be able to travel a few hundred miles to get the fix. Worst case, I'll drive where I need to.

Someone in your area will answer but make sure it's the seal and not a hose or fitting,clean/degrease the engine and look underneath when idling.

Larry if you can't find a Detroit mechanic a good transmission shop should
be able to do the job, changing the seal is not a difficult job it's getting to it
that takes all the work.

Look up Colton truck and RV repair, in Colton, Ca. They have worked on many Foretravels.

We had a good experience at Interstate Fleet Maintenance (link) when we had a problem with our Cummins ISL 400. I would give them a call. Carlos is the owner.

They are located in South Gate which is likely less than 30 miles depending on where you are in Orange County.

Lift the bed and make sure it's not a fitting close to the alternator. I had a hose leaking up there once. If not, try some seal expander available at any parts store. It softens and expands the seals. You will need more that for a car.

Bus grease monkey has a video about similar issue.
the bus is losing 1 gallon every 200 miles.
Two mechanics diagnosed with a leaking rear main seal, needs to take the engine and transmission apart, blah blah. over three thousands dollar.

Scott clean the engine, runs the bus for a while. It turns out the oil came from the air compressor. few of the bolts are loose.

It sounds very similar to your issue. Check the video and tight all loose bolts and nuts first before open the check book.
