M11 ECM problem??

Looking for suggestions for my M11 ECM. Has anyone had to replace it due to mysterious problems? It goes into 50 mph limp mode after 200 miles of driving. Suspect it derates the engine performance due to an unkown problem - external or internal to the ECM.

Do you have a SIlverleaf? If so, is it reporting an error code? If not could you borrow one for a short period of time?

Could be the output speed sensor failing rater than the ECM.

Call ECU King, Santa Fe, TX at 409/027-1800.  Ship it to them and they will diagnose and fix any and all engine computer problems, all makes.

Gave my M11 to them one day, picked up the next day.  Rebuilt the computer card and the power card.  Said I had a virtually new ECU.  Worked great.

Sounds to me like a sensor getting hot and becoming unstable. I just replaced the engine speed sensors( cam and crank) due to intermittent codes. When processors fail they usually fail completely. Have you checked for any fault codes?

When I was looking for a ECM I too contacted ECU king. They told me they didn't do repairs to the actual card and only provided reprogramming of your ecm. I inquired about this and that is all I could could find elsewhere. Cummins Mexico was the only provider that had rebuilt units and they were like $2600 each without programming another $600. All I'm saying is ask and confirm what they are doing.

Scott,  Just got off of phone with ECU King.  The repair of a M11 computer is no problem.  That is the computer they repaired for me.

The ISM, ISX,ISL computers are sometimes repairable but other times not what they can fix.  Depends on where in the computer the problem lies.  In the case of a no fixer.  They can offer a "Take Off" computer from a parted out truck that they have programmed, checked out and warrantied for one year for $800.

That is outstanding. Non were available when I needed mine. I really like having spare parts for anything that can leave me stranded on the side of the road. My lifetime warranty ECM is worthless if it fails again. It shows to have 850k on the clock. It works great but has always been in the back of my mind as a weak link. Crank sensor, low coolant sensor already in my spares I carry. One day a spare ECM will also join them riding around just giving me peace of mind. $800 and pre-programmed is a bargain IMO. Thanks again Rudy
