Water fill button not working

This is my first post to the forum.  I have a 2003 U320 42'. My problem is. While hooked up to a water supply my freshwater tank is not filling up when I push the water fill button inside or outside in the utility bay. Recently I have had my fill valve replace 9-29-21 at MOT because the fresh water tank was filling on it own from a water supply causing water to drip on the frame in front of the left side rear wheels. It seem to fix the problem. While out just recently the water started filling the tank again and water to drip out on the frame. I shut off the water supply and drained off a little water from the fresh water tank. The rest of the trip I used the water from the tank. When got home I went to fill the tank and the water fill buttons didn't work. I have water going through the water system, but not going in the tank. The water fill valve has 4 wires coming off the top of the unit. 2- red wires and a green and yellow wire together not used. The red wires are connected to power. One white and one green. With the fill switch inside the coach on the voltage read 13.30. When I turned the switch off the voltage was 0. I tested for continuity on the red wires with the fill switch on and off a didn't get any continuity sound. It was suggested to me that the overflowing was caused by a bad float valve in the fresh water tank. Only used in the 2003 model. I cut the the two yellow wires and pulled the float for a continuity check and to see if the float floated. It all checked out. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Craig

Craig,

First, welcome to the Forum!  We need more owners of the newer model coaches around here, so your input is very valuable.

Since I own a much older model, I can't be much help with your particular electrical problem.  Sounds like you have done some great trouble shooting.

I recall some mention on the Forum of problems with the relay that controls the water fill valve on newer models.  See if any info here applies to your couch:

Hi Craig,

When you press the momentary fill valve switch does the green indicator light at the fill switch come on?  These switches cause a latching relay to latch (close) or un-latch (open) which provides power to the fill valve.  The tank level switch acts just like pressing the fill valve switch to in-latch the latching relay to close the fill valve.  I think if the water level is above the level switch the fill valve will not open.  If the level valve is stuck it may prevent the fill valve from opening no matter what the level.

The fill solenoid is either open or closed (normally closed, no 12v power). They can leak if they are faulty or some grit gets in there to prevent complete closure.

The latching relay (there are two, one for the fill valve and one for the water pump should be behind the white fiberglass panel in the space where your air compressor is located. Your panel may be covered with gray carpet-like material.  There are wing nuts to remove to access behind the panel.

My 2001 does not have the level switch, yours is slightly different.

In addition to what Roger said I would add that I think Craig's coach has the intellitec lighting control which also incorporates the water fill and water pump control.  There are fuses and relays under the fridge.  When I received my coach someone had previously abandoned the fill solenoid and the overflow switch and installed a manual fill valve.  I restored it to original function.

Be sure to separate the two relays. There is enough room where they mount to separate them by an inch. They get warm and the two together are not good. Probably contributes to failure
