Check hydraulic fluid level?

We have a 2015 IH45.  Does anyone know the "protocol" for checking the engine fan fluid level?  Gauge on outside of tank has a F and C temp markings but no level indicator.  So, does fluid level just match the temp level as it increases, or middle of gauge at ambient or engine at ops temp, etc?  Just change fluid and filter DIY and need to know proper level of new fluid.
PS-- believe owner's manual says to change filter every 12k miles and fluid every 25K--that seems way too often, doesn't make sense to me?

Ya, that is twice as often as most-- unless there is something completely different about your newer model hydraulic system.

The older coaches have a dipstick hanging down inside the reservoir below the filler cap.  Your coach does not have this simple device?

And Yes that filter and fluid change interval does seem very short.  It's not like the oil and filter are ever exposed to contaminants like for instance the engine oil.  It's a closed system.  We have, I am sure, 20 year old coaches on this Forum that are still running the original factory installed oil and filters, with no obvious signs of distress.  If you ever have contact with the FOT service people, you might ask why so often?

Appreciate the input--being new to Foretravel but not to DP's, I try to do my "homework" first--read the book, ask the forum, then reach out to the factory.  Nope--no dip-stick, just an elongated sight-glass with temperature calibrations--does appear the elongated sight-glass with the thermometer inside, also provides the range for determining proper fluid level.  My first impression is that the IH45 is a different animal from what I am used to, and from the older Foretravels too.  I am learning a lot--almost every day. [smile]
