Steering wheel lights not working

Has anyone had to fix the lights in the steering wheel? Or is there even lights there? I guess I'm assuming there is, driving at night I can't see the cruise control and other buttons on the steering wheel. I almost have them memorized at this point but I would rather see them 😁

As a follow up on mine, I haven't done yet knowing there is a electronic way of automatically powering up with movement similar to my TV remote background lights. Curiously I installed some door bumpers buttons on the top of the switches and seems to work well to locate the buttons I regularly use by feel.
