I thought the brake pad is going to last a very long time. Especially with Engine Retarder, the brake does not wear out easily.
@stump are you going to do it by yourself on your drive way?

Don't understand above statement,it's a 91 maybe time for new pads,on these coaches the rear wear out faster then the front.

This is video about Freightliner chassis. 9:20, the guy saying the Bendix disk brake can last about 250K miles. That is probably longer than the lifetime of most RVs. I think Foretravel is using same Bendix air disk brake on all corners for the U300 and up.

With Retarder, engine brake, Jake brake and all other aux brake, I thought the brake pad should last very long since in a lot of cases, the pad doesn't even need to touch the rotor before the the speed is down to safety.

Yes, pads last a long time UNLESS:

The caliper slide pins are not free/lubed and the "lazy side" doesn't release.

OR

Someone not familiar with servicing the air disk brakes lubes the grease zirks and does not properly bleed excess grease which causes the pads to not properly release from the brake disk. BTW, they may even have used low temp chassis grease-- another no-no.

OR

A driver doesn't understand how to properly descend a long grade and uses his service brakes all the way down.

@stump definitely know everything about brakes. If he think the brake needs to be changed. It definitely needs to be changed.

I am just curious to know how much effort it needs to change on the big RV. I change disc brake pad on all my cars all the time. That is easy on cars. Not sure about the big motorhome.

Yes I'm doing it in my driveway.
I bought 4 new tires and am mounting them myself.
The Outer pad on the right side is about at its replacement point. The left side are good.
I ordered grease and pads today and hopefully can button it up next weekend.
Good Workout mounting tires!

A little ether seats the bead. What kind did you buy?

They get good reviews. Also M speed rated at 81 mph. Only a few have this rating.

Good luck buying either. Can only find substitutes and they don't work for tires. Unless they were stacked ten high they inflated with little effort.

No luck needed. Every parts store has starting fluid containing about 80% ether. https://www.amazon.com/Penray-5315-Ether-Content-Starting/dp/B00G4TWA2W

Lots of videos for how to do it. I use it all the time as many tires don't seal on wide rims. Why use a strap, or other contrivance when ether saves time and effort.

Stump,

When I replaced the rear pads three years ago I used Meritor Kit 15625PM  -  Shoe and Lining Kit for Air Disk Brake Pad from Find-it -Parts. I also had to replace the right rear rotor, slide pins and added helper springs.
