Window seal

I need to reseal my windows (frame to coach) and read here that  using silicone is not a good idea.Can some one tell me why.
I talked to a local shop and they use a 6mm round seal and than once they install the windows they will apply a bead of silicone on the top part of the window frame to force the water over the window  frame.Also when i googled how to reseal windows the first video that popped suggested the same process using the Seat tite foam core.

Also looking at the  suggested seal here on the Forum" Rubber D-Shaped Seal, Epdm Rubber, .750 In. W X .375 In. H, General Acrylic Pressure Sensitive Adhesive" and there is a big difference in size 
the local shop suggested a 6mill round and this is 18 mill.

does the  window lip accommodate the 3/4 inch width without showing excessive seal material when compacted.

Daniel, I would use the bulb seal that was used In production. Any type of butyl seal will work out and show because the coach does flex some. I would never use silicone on the windows. I redid all my windows with the bulb seal and no leaks. My windows when they had been removed for full body paint were not shimed in the opening correct, poor quality reinstall. If the windows are centered in the opening with the bulb seals you won't have any leaks.

If you apply the seal to the frame and then install the frame correctly, the seal will not squeeze out and show more.  I really tried to make mine so it would be just shy of flush (1/16") with the outer edge of the window frame.  Although "D" shaped, it is actually quite flat even before compression.  Maybe 3/4" wide and 1/4" high at most.

It didn't come with caulk and I didn't add any.  When I had the entry door window glass removed resealed last year, because of fogging, they wanted to add caulk to the frame and I ask them not to.  I have had no sign of leaks since doing all my windows. 

I had replaced the entry door glass several years ago and found that it was the only frame without exterior weep holes.  I cut some in the aluminum frame before reinstalling.

Wasn't talking about the bulb seal showing more just the butyl and it will eventually show.

Check with Xtreme graphics and paint in Nacodoches.  (936) 560-5888  They have (had) rubber window gasket with a self stick strip for reinstalling windows.

i called FOT and their seal is  1.27 a foot so i ordered the stuff from austin hardware..  Found some at West marine for an arm and 3 legs 29.99 for 10 foot. lots of the local shops buy the auto marine seal from Lowes or home Depot the problem is that this are only 5/16 th wide and don't seem to have lots of footprint and the home depot has one that is wider but rectangular in shape.
Anyway
will wait to get the seal from Austinhardware and get it done.
