Update, Foot brake valve

On our way back from Az about 3 hrs from home. The coach developed an air leak. From 130PSI down to 70PSI in the space of 3 minutes or so. YIKES!!! Only did that when the brake system main valve was charged. So it was in the braking system somewhere. Took the coach in to have the leak tracked down and lube,oil,filter. I have tinnitus and air leaks are hard for me to hear. As is typical. You take it into the shop and the air leak magically disappears or reduces to a slow very quiet leak. But one young skinny fellow with good ears finally was able to trace it to the treadle valve. (foot brake valve)

Boy oh boy. I thought the steering gear box was in a bad spot. This treadle valve is even higher and further in. I don't envy the tech working on it. And of course it's 3 days before a trip to Leavenworth, Wa.

But that's a first world problem so we will just hope that it's done in time.

Got the coach back today (wed 11th) Shop said it was deff a fiddly thing to change out. The air isn't draining off as if the tank valve was open. Shop also said the foot valve was likely leaking for a while as they mostly tend to fail slowly. Not sure what it will cost me as they didn't have a bill ready and told to just go camping and settle up when we return to Walla Walla.

They'll get it done. It's just a matter of how many labor hours it will cost. But as it involves the brakes/air system it's a safety first scenario and I want it done by experienced people.

The shop has the part on hand as it's a very common standard brake valve. The head tech said he would estimate 1/2 a day as it looks a PITA to R&R.

We will see when they put a wrench to it and hope all goes smoothly.

I couldn't even imagine trying to get to that thing with my neck issues and no shop to work in.

And of course as we are scheduled to leave on Thursday. It also means last minute frantic packing up. Only gone for a week so don't need to transfer the whole house into the coach.
