Entry Door Problem

I always admire how well the entry door is constructed.
It has operated, flawlessly, for my six years of ownership.....
Until today
It always stayed in the open position, until the secret push/ pull move is made
Mine won't stay open
I truly hope that someone can walk me through a "fix" for this.....
Can't have it blowing' in the wind
What do I need to do??

Get a step ladder and open the door and look how the posi-lok works. They no longer make it so either you buy the new style or weld and grind where the old one wore out. If you want to tackle the project it is doable. The one thing you must do is use a pair of vice grips to hold the cable when you remove the mechanism or you will have to take the inside of the door apart to retrieve it. Take a picture looking down on the posi-loc and post it and I can explain what you need to do. I have repaired 2 of them.

Pretty sure mine just needed a very slight adjustment or some lubrication and is started working properly.  This was 4 years ago, so the memory isn't clear on what the fix was.  It may be a simpler solution than removing and welding and grinding to re-establish original profile.

That is why I asked for a picture to see if his has wore down the arm as the one on my Monaco and my FT had done.

Looked at top of door....nothing unusual there
Opened the handle. Was able to get finger at end of cable. LOTS of slack.
Is it possible that is the problem?
If I have to open the door up, how much do I need to remove?
Can I start from bottom and adjust cable?
Is there another approach?

As Craneman says Pictures of the top of your posi lock would help. Just had to repair mine due to wind damage. How long has it been since you lubed to top assembly, a little spray lube goes a long way? If you are inclined to start taking things apart I would start with the top assembly. That is most likely where you will find the problem.

Like many items on our coach the posi-lock does require annual maintenance. Once cleaned the paw should have a layer of dry graphite lube. Shaft. Should have a drop of gear lube. Pivot  on arms also need a drop of lube. Paw should have good positive engagement onto cam. If they have been forced open or have been not fully closing the paw may have become damaged. Repairing or replacement can be done. Paw should move freely. The extra slack in the cable is fine as long as you can release the lock once opened.

Slack in the cable would hinder the release nothing to do with the door not staying open.

FOT still had some NOS posilock arms in stock in 2018. Not sure but they may still have a few. Might check.

PTL sells a friction model now. The spare in the pictures came from floridarandy when it failed and he got the new style.

Only needs corrosionX then some working the pawl back and forth until it frees up.

Glenn, spay CorrosionX or liquid wrench or any other penetrant under the pawl then squeeze the pawl against the arm with channel locks then pry it back away until it frees up.
