Selling Advice

I have inherited a 1999 U 295 from my father (he was a member on here too) who passed away a few years ago. It was used for a few years and now I need to sell it and I am not sure how to go about that. I called the dealership in Texas and they wouldn't take it on consignment.  Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Put your ad with details of up dates/ mechanical repairs, maintenance, tire and battery age, and plenty of pictures inside and out. Then put it n the classifieds here on he forum. No one can give price info without all the above info.

Did you try Motorhomes of Texas? Or Foretravel?

Foretravel of Texas no longer sells used coaches.  Motorhomes of Texas does. I am going to guess you called FOT & not MOT.

As Bruce says, posting a "free" ad in the classified section of the Forum is a good way to reach a lot of eyeballs.

We (the Forum) have a substantial presence in the state of Florida.  You could try sending a PM to members located close to you to see if they might know of potential buyers.
Go to the member's profile page (Contact Information) to send a PM.  See map below:

Jamie, let me first say that I'm sorry for the loss of your father. And congratulations! I guess on inheriting a foretravel. As others have said, the best way in my opinion to sell these coaches is on these forums. You can also put it on the Facebook foretravel site. While most people, it seems these days are looking for you 320s with all the bells and whistles, you should be able to sell your coach if it's in pretty decent shape and or you price it right. Now. Do not go to Kelly's Blue book or any other pricing Place to figure out how much it is worth. Look on our forums in the classifieds section and see what that model and year tends to list for. Also go to motorhomes of Texas website and look there as well. If you need help figuring out how much you should price it for, look at the members list on these forums and see if you can find somebody locally that can come and give you an idea. In the end, it's only worth as much as a buyer is willing to pay, but there's lots of buyers and some will pay more than others. You must kind of ascertain how much work is required to bring the coach up to specs. This would involve knowing the age of the tires, the age of the airbags, this age of the shocks, when the last time maintenance and service was done on the engine transmission, etc. Things like are there any bulkhead issues, or has the steering gear been replaced? These are all things that will vary and will determine a good starting place to list the coach for. Also, does everything work? Does the heater work? Etc. You get my drift right? You also have to understand that there are not as many people out there looking for these kind of coaches as there are that may want to buy say a pickup truck or a Jeep. If you don't try to get the absolute top of dollar amount, you will find that it will be easier to sell. Make it presentable both inside and out if you can. If you can expect less money and longer selling time. I would try to sell it on your own first if you can. Cuz if you go to motorhomes of Texas you'll be selling it on commission. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. Lots of people have bought their coaches there. I would not. I would buy from a seller on these forums first and that's what I did and that's what most people have done I think. Of course it helps if you clear out the bays of stuff that your dad may have had in there, and make sure that the interior is clean and smells good. Treat the wood. It hasn't been done in a while, make sure the filters on the water system have been changed recently. Same with the engine, oil change etc. And then be ready to wait. The nice thing about going to nacogdoches and selling it there. Is that a lot of people go there to look. But while it's a good way to sell a coach, it's not the only way.
Good luck on selling it and I hope everything works out well for you. You can always ask here. Plenty of people give you their advice. Just remember you get what you pay for and everybody's got an opinion.

1999 Foretravel U295
This coach was purchased by my father in 2010 in Texas. He took good care of it until his sudden death in 2012. My husband and I inherited the RV because my step mother didn't want it. We knew little to nothing about the coach. But we enjoyed it and tried our best to keep it in good condition. My husband and I divorced in 2019 and as it was my fathers I have it and don't really know how to drive it nor do I want to.....  I do go out and start it once to twice a week.
•   The AC units are not working, but the heat pumps and the fans on both units do work. I do have a portable A/C and a dehumidifier in it and running at all times.
•   Generator – cooling fan is not working and the output voltage isn't correct.
•   Bose sound system isn't working
•   Toilet has a intermittent leak
•   Chasis batteries are less than 12 months old.
•   House batteries were replaced in 2015
•   Tires were replaced in 2015
•   Transmission is in good working order
•   Engine works great and was serviced in 2018
•   Leveler and airbags are in good working order.
