hydraulic hose replacement

Hi all! I just replaced three hydraulic hoses from the power steering reservoir to the cooling fans and power steering. Do I now need to bleed the power steering system? And, if I do, is there a bleeder valve somewhere?

Top off the oil and let the engine idle for awhile,should be fine.Let us know where you got the hoses.

Thanks for the reply. One of the old hydraulic hoses split and I lost all of the hydraulic fluid along the highway so I thought I should replace them all while the reservoir was empty.  I had the new hoses made by Cypher Company in Murrysville, Pa. The two shorter ones were about $100 and the longer one was about $200. They did a great job and made them on the spot in just a few minutes. They also supplied new elbows.

Since you have the 8.3 engine, your hydraulic pump is probably mounted in the same place as mine.  I rebuilt my pump (the one for the cooling fan motors).  After I got everything put back together, on the initial engine restart, my fans were not turning.  I had to loosen the connection for the inlet hose to the first fan motor (while the engine was running) to bleed the air out of the system.  Once that was done, my fans turned normally.  See link below to my post on this subject:

We lost two on a trip that were in contact with each other. Good to check before any voyage. Our hoses are single jacket and it does not take much to go through the steel mesh. Good to have the crow's foot to loosen the hard to get at fittings. Think it's one inch but one I replaced was 1 1/16" or 1/1/8." They do make double jacket hose with user replaceable fittings.

One more reason to hate the terrible hydraulic system.
