Aqua Hot 675D vs AHE-100 series

Running through questions in my mind...
Is the 675D a direct replacement for the older 100 series AH units?
If so, are they the same quality/output/reliability etc??
I have heard from service shops the 675 is a replacement but am Leary as it looks larger and may not be compatible/same quality etc etc
Any thoughts or knowledge on this??

The AHE 100 is an older version of the full size heater that replaced the 431/12.  It has a stainless steel case and is a fine heater to maintaine till there is a castistrophic failure.

The AHE 675 is the current version of the Newell heater that  was built for Newell for years.  It has a 120 volt electric heating element as does the AHE 100.  The 675 has a second 240 volt element.  When both are on, it pulls nearly 37 amps ane requires two 120 volt supplies, leg 1 and leg 2.  The 240 volt element only works on a 50 amp power post or on the gen.

The AHE 600 is the replacement for the AHE 100.  It has two 120 volt elements.  So a direct replacement does not use the second element or one needs to pull a second 120 volt leg to the heater.

I will maintain my 431/12 for as long as I can.  If replacement is the only option, it will be a 600 and I will only energize one element.

Rudy what do you consider to be a catastrophic failure on an AHE?  Just wondering which component would warrant scrapping the unit.  Are you mainly thinking of freeze damage?

For me, a failure of the copper freshwater loop or a failure of the coolant tank would be castastrophic.  One of our members has rebuilt his freshwater loop and could have repaired a failed tank but my skills are no where close to that level.

I forgot to mention, a 431/12 or a 100 can be rebuilt by Aqua Hot for less than a new 600.  Plus, a rebuilt one would be plug and play.  A new 600 would need modest plumbing rerouting of pex pipes and fuel lines.  But small challange there.

Mine actually is a 431 unit which I presume is the same as the series 100 (??)
As I have spoken on previous posts, I just had the coils replaced as well as previous service involving new wire harnesses thermostats tempering valves etc. In total I have spent about 12 or 13 thousand cdn so my unit  I WOULD THINK... is just about new

Peter,  your 431 has all metal pumps.  Way better than the plastic pumps in 100 or new heaters.  The new heater plastic pumps retail from AH for less than $200.  AH wants over $1000 for the metal pumps.  If you ever need one, call me as I have another less expensive source.
