Diesel mechanic Idaho Falls for a Cummins 400 ISL 2007 Nimbus 36

Hi there we have heard air noise out of the engine compartment whenever Mike hit the accelerator.  Today the red engine stop light came on and we limped into Gros Ventre just outside of Jackson WY.  We think the closest repair shop is going to be in Idaho Falls unless somebody knows somebody in Jackson.  If you have a recommendation for a good diesel diagnostic shop and repair we sure would appreciate it.🤞🤞

Did you lose power? Had to push the accelerator to the floor to get it to move. CAC boot, Turbo boot... Compressor line, Brake line.. all have air.. to make noise, shouldnt be to hard to locate ...Thinking a boot

No we do not have a Silverleaf. We did have a mechanic take a look and it's the auxiliary sensor number 2 that is showing higher pressure.  One of our other mechanics (Steve at John's Truck Service) out of Tucumcari said he is going to see if he can have his contact in Rock Springs leave two sensors out for us to drive down and pick up tomorrow. If that doesn't work and clear the issue then we are looking at a tow to Idaho Falls🤞🤞 still looking for a name of a good mechanic if it gets to that point in Idaho Falls.

Keith you might try Able auto  they are at 4257 S hwy 89 or 189 (Main road south of town) They were very helpful to us a few years ago.  We had car problems but I would at least give them a call to see if they work on Diesels.
ph 307 739 8960 .  If they don't do diesel work they may can direct you to a good mechanic that does, that is close to you.
Good luck

If you heard air noise coming out of the engine compartment it could be one of the rubber connectors
from your turbo to the Aftercooler or from the aftercooler back to the engine has come off or has a hole in it.
If they come off the engine has no power. I hope that is what it is as it is a cheep easy fix.

I had this happen only it was a clamp had broken off the inlet side of CAC.  When I gave throttle the air was passing under the rubber flange and making a terrible racket.  I had 2- 2'' screw clamps that i put together so it would fit the 4" flange

Kath and Mike,

Just to clear up any possible questions, CAC = Charge Air Cooler = Aftercooler.

Yes, pretty easy for anyone to VERIFY the "plumbing" of the air to the engine:

Start at the air cleaner. Check connections and boots along the way:

Air cleaner to turbo (intake side).

Turbo out side to CAC (the air to air radiator outboard of the radiator-- but pipe diameter larger than for the radiator)

CAC OUT to engine intake manifold.

Also, check the smaller diameter hose from intake manifold to the air compressor.

Yes, all this to make sure that the BOOST that your turbo makes is actually getting to the engine!

My CAC split. Very little power. Purchased new CAC from Foretravel. Had steward & Stevenson install the CAC. All good. 2006 Nimbus ISL 400.

The things I listed above would have been first suspects. Easy on the road fixes.

Update - we had an air leak in the manifold. We found a good mobile diesel mechanic out of Jackson, Ricky 's and he was able to repair it. Unfortunately, he did not have the Cummins software to clear the stop engine sensor after that was replaced. We ended up getting a 162 mile flatbed tow to Cummins in Rock Springs.  Ken re-calibrated the EMS which cleared the sensor. Took it on a 60 mile drive all appeared in good working order. The only thing that's happened since he recalibrated was our speedometer is no longer correct it's about 5 miles off and our cruise control is no longer working. The bus seems to be running great and we are on our way to Cheyenne Terry Bison, RV Park.  Thank you again for all the comments.
