Source for Slide Cylinder Repair
I am posting this for anyone else who might have a bad slide cylinder and can't find a replacement. About ten or eleven weeks ago, my slide synchronization cylinder died (hydraulic fluid pouring out of the front seal, around the shaft). I managed to get the slide in and have been without it until Saturday. I tried to find a replacement, but HWH never even called back (I tried contacting them multiple times). MOT did not have one, and neither did FOT (I was told by their parts department that they had cylinders on back order from HWH since last year). I called several hydraulic shops and finally found one that would look at the cylinder. It is Rupe's Hydraulics - Hydraulic Systems and Components Inc. in San Marcos, CA. (760-744-9350). I worked with Mike Bray, who took my calls and/or returned them promptly, was incredibly helpful, answered all my questions, and got the job done on time and as promised. I highly recommend them based on my experience so far. The cost was just under $500 to repair and return the cylinder, about the same as a new one.
