1989 Grand Villa fuse panel/s?

Hello All,

We have a 89 Grand Villa Cat Diesel, and really love our White Elephant. However, when something doesn't work for one reason or another, it can be frustrating....

That said, my latest issue is the upper "cigarette lighter" plug is now inop. The first thing I would look for is a blown fuse, but I found one fuse panel under the right front of the bed. all 15 amp fuses and all look good.

So my question to you good folks out there would be, Is there a second fuse panel? and if so, where and if its under the dashboard as I read in previous threads but other model years, where do i lift the dash without damaging it.

Lift up the padded dash cover,two hands in the middle will need a stick about 10" long to prop it up,  look right in front of the steering wheel you should see about 6" of fuses along with a diagram on the back side of the padded panel, one of them is what you want.

There are lots of them under the dash top toward the back. Some are only hot with the key on, others all the time. Since they can be hard to see if blown, I use a test light with a point. Put the clip on a ground by the steering column and then with the key on, start checking the fused side of the fuse to see if it lights the test light. Easy to test all of the fuses in a minute or so without pulling any or putting a +4 pair of glasses on. There is a printed legend you can read at the back of the dash top when you open it. Pretty easy to see which end is which by comparing the fuse values with the values printed on the tops of the fuses. You will catch on quickly.

There are several more hidden away but I can't remember where or what they do.

AND, now there are fuses available that light up to indicate they have blown. Makes things real easy! I have already changed a bunch of the 15 & 20 amp fuses in the panel at the foot of the bed. Otherwise kind of hard to see a blown fuse with my bifocals unless I lay on the floor.
This year I will start changing the fuses un the dash to the new style. I do keep the old ones for spares, just in case I run out of the new style.

Its the second row from the right 2nd one down from the windshield. ?

Spoon--whatever works! I cut a piece of broom handle to fit, added a rubber chair end on the bottom and the "device" fits over by the pass left dash vent and the top end wedges behind the metal clip (like the clips that hold brooms on the wall). Out of my way when working under the dash. I got tired of the darn dash falling every time I bumped it.
Also, got rid of that TV box up above because it kept bumping my head. Blasted box never learned to get out of the way!!

I took a 2x4, ripped it, sanded and rounded sides/corners smooth, drilled a hole toward one end, painted it satin black and screwed it into place. Now, I just rotate it up and don't worry about a stick breaking and trapping me for an untimely end.

Sorry Pierce, but I know my limitations. I am a wood butcher and with a discarded broom handle I was able to recycle something and because of the length of the broom handle I got three tries and some firewood. >:D  >:D

Hey, the broom handle is already rounded and ready to go. Perfect!

Looks like a lot of the nation could use some scrap wood to help build a fire. 70 degrees here but will be 117 this summer.

Here in Wisconsin we cannot transport firewood over 20 miles but loggers can haul timber as far as they want. Go figure. I transport memory wood and the Forest Service guy/gal looks at me kind of funny until I tell them what memory wood is. I do sometimes have a whole bunch of memory wood. (wood butcher sign) ^.^d

Some after market Cigarette lighter outlets have a built in fuse in them.  Screw off the end of the lighter  at the wire end and see if there is a fuse in there.

Anyone have the fuse diagram for 1987 grandvilla. I only have a partial diagram on the underside of my dash. Need the one to the far left 2 rows. Thanks
