'02 320. leveling, Excess slope light stays on and system will not re-level

So ran in rain all day Sunday, stopped near Kingman, set up and auto leveled. After about 5 hours realized that the coach had the "leans"  also the excess slope light was on..
Hit the HWH reset button light momentarily went out then back on.
Started the coach got the excess light off and the travel light on , shut everything off. went to bed.
Next morning fired up and drove to here in Boulder City..travel setting seemed to work as it should..
Now.. After 5/6 hours it's  back to the "leans", the excess slope is on ,and cannot re level nor get to the travel mode..
I REALLY REALLY DO NOT want to chance breaking the windshields again due to the system going bonkers..
Suggestions??? I wonder.. Are there are fuses /breakers that may have been tripped due to running in the rain??  But I Do Not Know Exactly where they are located..other than the rocker switch on the drivers arm rest.
What few manuals I have are not real helpfull.
Will not be back thru 'Nac until March/April.

saddlesore,

You could have shorted out a coil or 2. The fuses for the HWH system that covers the coils on the6 packs are located in the basement inside the HWH control box. Now which control box you have will depend on which system you have. Go over to the HWH site and look up your system for the instruction and troubleshooting instructions.

Saddlesore,

Like Mike advises, go to the page below and look up your system model number.  Keep scrolling down...it is a long page.

https://www.hwhcorp.com/ml17785_01_nom_pr_lesy.pdf

After you find your system model number, do a Google search for "HWH XXX series service manual" and see what you find.

If you can locate the service manual for your system, it should include some sort of trouble shooting procedure.  If so, follow the procedure exactly as written...do not skip any steps.

Let us know what you find.

I don't recall if a 2002 has room locks or not (or if it was a mid-year change):

Just to clarify - it went unlevel when parked but starting the main engine let you achieve Travel mode/ride height, correct?  And now even with the main engine running it won't go into Travel mode?

Saddlesore,

Michelle has kindly identified your leveling system as belonging to the 2000 Series family, in which case you might try the trouble shooting steps in the manual linked below;

I had problems with the travel solenoid blowing the fuse in the rain. I found the culprit and bought
a new one and the same problem would occur. It turned out the new one was defected too. When
it was raining water was getting in the solenoid where the wires go into the solenoid. I added a lot of
silicone around the wires and the problem solved. I had a problem bench testing them as soon as
power was put on them they would dry out and they would test fine. It took a while of testing them
and finally I saw one of them using too much current and then it dropped to where it was fine. I have
driven a lot in the rain since and no more problem.

Section MP85.050V of the service manual linked in Reply #4 contains detailed drawings of the control box.  Should be easy to figure out which is the HWH box by comparing them to the drawings.

I believe the "excessive slope" light will come on after the system has been trying to level for a long period of time (like 20 mins).  If you reset the system, then press AIR once, is the yellow light on for the front/back/left/right?  Can you manually dump the other side or raise that side to get it to level and all yellow lights out?

On a 2002 model with the train system the proper manual is ML25178/MP05.998E of 30 May 01

On Tuesday I drove over to the Elks lodge here in Boulder City and found saddlesore. I was able to get Ws6-Kieth on the phone and we were able to narrow down a possible problem. When saddlesore parks and levels it goes into sleep mode then after a period of time it wakes up to relevel, the aux compressor kicks on but is unable to bring the pressure up high enough to level then after 20 min of trying the exccess slope light comes on and he is locked out. This makes him very nervous as they have replaced 4 SETS of windshields. Yes he has gone around and around with the factory. Everywhere I looked there was evidence of the HWH system being worked on. Also the HWH bypass switch is in bypass. I noticed after maybe 20 min his lower air gauge on the dash was down to 60 lbs. He has an air leak to address also. With Kieth's help after we fired up the coach and built air pressure we reset the excess slope light by releasing the park brake. Releveled coach and I advised him to cancel the HWH panel hoping it would lock it in that level position. I needed to get going so he stated he would start looking for air leaks. He did say he replaced the Thomas air compressor 2 years ago. I plan on going by today to see if he has any luck on air leaks. Also he states he has replaced 2 complete dryer's with known white powder contamination. Quite the MESS! Will update later, Jim.  P.S. Big shout out to Ws6-Kieth for his hours of help on the phone helping to sort this out.

Sounds to me like the auto leveling problem is centered around the aux compressor.  Either it is not building sufficient pressure, OR the pressure is not getting where it needs to go (the air bags).  I would check the pump output pressure with a gauge.  If it doesn't meet specs, then figure out why.  If it does meet specs, then figure out why the pressure is not getting to the air bags.

If the coach is level and the HWH panel is turned off, then the coach should hold that level for quite a while.  If it does not, then the problem is in the 6-pack manifolds (specifically the two check valves).

Really unusual for two air dryers to fail and have the dreaded white powder contaminate the system! That could be a lot fo troubleshooting.
