Re: New Foretravel U300 owner

Let me introduce myself. My name is Sjoerd, 43 years old, married and have three boys (9,6 and 2 years old). As the name already reveals, I'm not American, I live in The Netherlands. So maybe I'm even the first Dutchman owning a Foretravel.
I bought the Foretravel U300 from David (kb0zke). He and Jo Ann did a great job. I got an extensive introduction into the U300, lot of do's and don't and tips. One tip I found out myself. At home I drive a Tesla, so I'm pretty lazy as it comes to all the electronics in the car. In a U300 you have to use your brain
, so I went for the 4th time to Walmart (still have to buy that ladder), shopped around. Went back to the Foretravel and tried starting it. Some strange noises, but no engine start. Ohooo.... But then David told me something about a boost button. While searching for it I noticed the lights were still on. So I now found out that they do not turn off automatic
Turned the lights of, enabled the boost button and the engine started.
Made the trip from just south of Roswell, via White Sands to Deming. There was some space left there on a RV Park. Did another run the next morning and traveled to Tucson, tried the NP but that was full, found another park with a space left and improved my reversing parking skills. Now in the Phoenix area and prepping the RV for storage. I will be back in August and travel from Phoenix up north. If somebody knows a good storage location near Salt Lake City, please let me know, as I expect to end my trip there (they have direct flights to Amsterdam).
I've read a lot on this forum, most of the posts from David, a very good and extensive history of the Foretravel U300 is documented by him. I will try to start fixing the speedometer, an interesting issue.
Safe travels!
