Help! Removed airline and can't reconnect

Removed airline hose connector to retarder accumulator solenoid.  Can't reconnect nut.  Is there a trick to  reconnecting the airline?

If this is a compression fitting the threads are fine and you really need to have the airline straight to get the threads started.  A little lubricant can help.  I use Nylog but any light oil will help.  Mine has a push connect air fitting.

It's a compression fitting. Worked at it for ~ 2 hours. Was unsuccessful.  Remember disconnecting a similar fitting on the Thomas pump to replace a 1-way valve. It was problematic in getting it reattached. Currently at Colton Truck Terminal having them remove the transmission oil cooler for cleaning.  Will have the professional mechanics reattach the air line. Another Foretravel coach (16908) here for service. Ran over a cement parking curb in a campground and damaged engine parts.

Often the end of the line will be swollen .  Take a small flat file and reduce the end size a tiny bit.  A little atf oil and wiggle /shove it back on.

Can you unscrew the other end to give you more slack?
