Major Air Leak

I have a major air leak and my dash mounted air gauges have quit reading air pressure correctly.  So, thinking I could have two problems (which I do), I decided I needed to fix my gauge situation first.  I think I should change out the electric gauges in the dash to mechanical air operated gauges that will read all the time.  I started looking for air lines from the front and rear brake tanks behind the dash to see if they could be some located there so I would not have to run new lines from the tanks.  I did find two lines connected to a what I believe is a Hadley sensor.  Lo and behold one of the lines is leaking really bad, which I think is what is causing my on board compressor to run excessively.  I am going to try to post pictures of the Hadley part and another part which seems to be part of the gauge system.

I am thinking that this Hadley part is some sort of sensor that operates the electric gauges.  Possibly it is bad and causing the gauges not work.  Any words of wisdom will be appreciated.

The compression fitting does not appear to be leaking, the push on type fitting is what is leaking badly.

I'm pretty sure the Hadley part is the solenoid valve that operates your air horns.  Simple normally closed valve.  When you hit the horn button valve opens sends air to horns.

The other thing I don't know about.

My coach has a mechanical air pressure gauge with two air lines (front and rear tank) attached to back of gauge.  The Hadley solenoid on my coach is T'd off one of the lines behind the gauge.

That makes sense.  the line with the push on fitting is leaking, that must be the live line.  The line with the compression fitting is not leaking, at least not leaking at the moment without the horn blowing.  I am trying to find out what operates the electric air gauges, so I may still have to run another line for the other tank. Thanks

OK that is the line for the air horns.  The supply line to the Hadley switch is what is leaking (the push on connector). How do I remove the air line from the connector and refit it?

There is a black plastic collar in the fitting where the air line goes in.  Push in on the air line slightly, then push in on the plastic collar as you pull out on the air line.  You can use a open end wrench that just fits over the air line as a tool to push down on the collar.

After you get the line out, cut a little piece off the end with a razor blade knife.  The end should be a clean straight cut and perfectly round.

Push it straight into the fitting until it bottoms, then pull out gently to lock it in place.

To prevent leaks, the air line should go straight into the fitting, with no sideways tension on the line.

Good instructions thanks. However the plastic came apart as I realeased the tubing. I will get another fitting for when I return to the coach next week. Then I need to fix the gauges.
