99 U320 Charging House Battery without 50AMP Service

Hello all,
  Newbie question, is there any way to charge house batteries without hooking up to a 50A service or running the generator? I have access to a 110V extension cord but that is about it.

Hooking up to 110 volt circuit will charge your batteries and if your batteries are low
that is all it will do.

Invest in a seperate charger,check out the battery minder brand,get the one for your battery type,search the forum plenty of
info in the archives.

Generaly speaking, You can charge you house batteries with an ext cord. Your inverter charger has a power share setting in it , set it to 5 or 10 amps. That way it will not draw more than that. All that is assuming you're not talking 100feet of cord and you will need to adapt from 20 amp to 50 amp and at least a #12 cord.

Agree, a 5 amp setting on power share/power save on your inverter/charger will allow for over 40 amps @14 VDC to keep your house bank charged.

You will also need some device to charge the chassis battery.  Common are "smart thiefs" like the Xantrex Echo charger and small stand alone smart chargers/maintainers.
