Battle Born 8D Install Information

Help!

I can not seem to find information where anyone has installed Battle Born 8D Lithium-Ion batteries in a U295, my AGM's are on life support and need to be changed out, but according to my measurements the BB;s are not going to fit. using the online BB dimension's of there 8D. without modifying the the battery tray. Someone please tell me you have installed a Battle Born 8D in U295??

What dimension are you worried about? It does look like they are about a half-inch larger in each direction. If you're worried about length and width, you can put a board underneath the batteries. If height is an issue, you may need to completely rebuild the battery area.

Is there a reason you are wanting Battleborn? There are plenty of other proven brands in various sizes.

Hi Mike
Though I can't answer specifically the U295 fit question, I can say that in our case when we installed Battleborn batteries we had to modify the battery tray, cutting down a portion of the rear tray angle iron. The batteries would fit in the space, though not sit properly in the angle iron tray,

Not exactly "plug and play" however the modification wasn't hard to complete if you have some basic skills and a few tools.

Getting the old lead-acid 8d's out was harder than modifying the tray, Once the batteries were out the tray was easy to remove for modifications. Every coach is different... I used a die-grinder disk on my right-angle grinder to remove a portion of the rear angle iron so the batteries could fit. I also made sure I had a means to attach 1" straps to secure the batteries and tested the fit before installing everything into the coach.

I'm sure you know, these LIFo type batteries can be installed on their sides if needed for space accommodation. Would the newer BB dragonfly GC3 8D battery offer any fit advantage?  They do offer better communication information.

One final thought. I really like the Battle Born products, however Zack makes a good point... There are other options out there typically at a significantly better price point. Just be sure to do your research, and be sure the batteries BMS has low temperature cutoff and heat pads if you plan to be in below freezing areas.

You won't regret the upgrade to LIFo batteries.

Good luck, J & K

Thanks' for the reply's I like that BB are assembled in USA and they have very good review's and customer service, I also purchased a BB 100 Ahr. Battery and have had no issue's, they had a 3 day sale and knocked off $375 on each battery for the heated 8D, I also like there terminals they are very robust.

My AGM's are toast they went thru the 2021 Texas freeze at FOT and appear to have been overcharged. How or why I'm not sure yet, but they are swelled up on the end's. I checked them last May before my trip to Alaska, And was surprised to see them in the condition there in. In hindsight I should have done better research on the BB fitment before purchasing but now I'm committed to this new adventure!
Looks like I'll be modify the battery tray. I also don't like the arrangement of the cable's. there in excellent condition, but it looks like a rats nest.

Beeman you are correct getting the old 158# beast's out of there in going to be the worst part!
