My 8.3 was a mechanical and had the diesel manifold heater. I think that all the12 volt grid heater
is more common.

OK, perhaps it is just our poor old '93 model C8.3 that doesn't have any intake preheater.  That's fine with me...KISS is my motto.

We have some type of preheat system on ours, it has never worked and so far we haven't needed it in temps as low as the 20's 
It on my list to get fixed, just not near the top of the list..... yet.
I'll post pics of it later, maybe someone will share some info on it. We are leaving Virginia today for home (Fla) so it may be a couple days before I take the photos.

Mike posted some links earlier (Reply #11) to info on one type of heating system.  I added those same links to the Forum library in the "ENGINES" folder for future reference.
