Turning on the Heat

Hello ForeForum Family.... The wife and I (Sandra & Mitchell) are NEWBIES to the RV life as well as the forum. We've recently purchased a Foretravel Nimbus 45' w/500 HP Cummings and are in the process of trying to sell the sticks and bricks to become full timers. We're in the learning stage of operating our Coach and are looking for some answers to some questions. Can someone do a rundown on what they're procedure is in this scenario?

Let's say during the night a cold norther blew in and you've woke up the next morning to a real chilly coach... burrrr... BRING ON THE HEAT... Share with me what your procedure would be to get it warm and toasty. Thanks in advance.

First things first, be prepared. Be aware of the weather forecast and be ready to deal with it..
As for heating your coach, I'll let someone with a similar coach advise you.

First you will need to go into setting and your signature and put your coach year and model. That will help others help you, like the bottom of this post.

If your coach has heat pumps you could turn them on through the thermostat.  Instead of setting for cooling you would be setting for heat pump..

If you have a aquahot you need to turn the burner on and then set the thermostat for gas heat.  On my coach I have a Silverleaf monitor that is touch screen and I go to Hydrolics, then there is a button for burner.

Welcome to the group.

With you planning on being full timers you will be aware of the approaching storm as you most likely will get into the habit of keeping up with the weather. If you haven't headed to warmer weather 2 days before (due to what ever reason) then here is what we would do. Plan ahead and set the Aqua Hot to a nice comfortable setting and head to bed with an electric blanket.

You will have an Aqua Hot heater or maybe an Oasis heater.  Till you know which one, you are behind the power curve.

If Oasis, turn the power on at the burner module in the basement.  Then turn the diesel switch on inside and go back outside and observe the heater exhaust pipe..  If firing and hot exhaust, you are good to go.

If Aqua Hot, turn the diesel burner on inside.  Go out side and observe the exhaust pipe,  If firing, clean exhaust gases, you are good to go.  If smokey or not firing, service the Webasto burner.

If you want a thorough orientation on either heater.  Drive to the east side of Houston to my guest full hookup and we will have a good discussion.  If any fix is needed, I can do that while you are here.

Thanks for advice, will add info to my signature
My coach has Oasis diesel burner.

So,
step 1 - turn burner ON
step 2 - set thermostat control to heat; select each zone to temps desired ( my (4) units on roof)
step 3 - go out make sure oasis fired up and running

Thanks turbojack!

I have Oasis... thanks for your advice...
I'm definitely keeping you in mind for orientation on heater.

Thanks Rudy!

Good to hear back from you.

When you are ready to check out the Oasis.  Call me between 8 and 8 central.  You will be amazed what you can learn in a phone call.  Please be at the coach ready to turn the Oasis on.  Plus 1/4 tank or more of diesel fuel in the tank.

Oasis is a heater brand while Aqua Hot is a different brand like Ford and Toyota
