Labeling wires and air lines

I'm in the process of tracing out my air lines and eliminating some leaks.  Most though not all of the original air line numbering is still in tact and readable with a little cleaning.  I'm pleasantly surprised since the environment under the coach is pretty hostile to the labels.  I'd like to replace some that are not readable and add others where they are missing.  Does anyone know what type of device the factory used to make the labels or know of some other equally effective method?  I see lots of label makers online I just don't know which ones are up to the task.

I use a Brady BMP21-PLUS Portable Label Printer that I purchased used on Ebay, I think that model has been discontinued, but seems just like what @kgrover posted.  You then purchase different cartridges for printing, one will be a Self-Laminating Wire Wrap.

That seems like the way to go.  I would like to put heat shrink over the labels but in most cases I won't be removing the airlines and even if I did, if I was planning on re-using the compression nuts that wouldn't work either.
thank you

Once detached you should be able to use some 4:1 clear shrink and a simple label.

The Brady self laminating labels are good (i use them a lot) but they need to fully wrap the wire and not be subjected to any bend, e.g. they need to be on the flat section of the cable at all times or they will tend to peel up/off
