1990 CAT 3208 ECL (emissions) Label info?

Good Day folks, new poster here.. I actually have a 1990 Barth MH with a 3208 CAT pusher. I'm trying to submit my smog (?) docs for California's CARB ( Air Resources Board) requirements  . Not a prob as passed the emissions opacity test ( no visual smoke ) but they need a pic of the ECL (Emissions Control Logic Label). Thats supposedly located on the left side (as you are looking at the front (fan-belt side) of the motor) valve cover which is completely covered by engine bay roof/ceiling and I can't get to it..easily..

Anyone have a pic of that decal / tag by chance..?  CAT Motor Serial # 02Z65044

Might have this 'engine family' # on it also: LPCT0636TEPC1 (not specific to my particular motor, just to the 'family' of cat motors those emission specs are for..

I know that some Foretravel rigs were supplied with/ 3208's back in the day and am wondering (read hopeful) that someone has a pic of what the label looks and the information it has..

I'm at full stop right now with CA regulators and need this info.. Any assistance and/or direction would be most appreciated..

Tnx,  Mike W

1997 and older motorhomes are exempt from smog in California. You need to check with carb as they may think you are a truck as they did me until I got it straightened out.

Hey Craneman, thanks for the contact.. here's the current info from CARB's web page:
"...How must my motor home be tested?
Specifics are available at Emissions Compliance Testing Requirements
The testing requirements depend on whether your vehicle/engine is equipped with OBD or not.
OBD-equipped vehicles (2013 and newer diesel engines and 2018 and newer alternative fuel engines) are required to undergo a scan of the engine's OBD data using a California Air Resources Board (CARB) certified OBD testing device.
Diesel non-OBD vehicles (2012 and older diesel engines) are required to complete a smoke opacity test and a visual inspection of the vehicle's emissions control equipment, referred to in this program as the Vehicle Emissions Control Equipment Inspection.

Just looking for a pic of the ECL tag to submit..As mentioned above, I have passed the Opacity Test and now am just looking for a pic of the ECL tag to submit.. Hoping that some early 1990's era Foretravel MH's having the 3208 NA motor have a more accessible Left side ( from front of motor) valve cover to snap a pic for me..

Thanks,

Mike W

There are some strange conflicts. The link below is old but there were links later that showed pre 1997 motorhomes were not required to be tested. The one you show makes no sense as no mention of how far back they must be tested just earlier than 2012 if that were true motorhomes from the 50's 60's would be required and that is not logical. Have you phoned CARB and talked to a human as the links are AI.
Also on another note I have a 1997 Beaver with renewal in Aug. and have not been notified to smog it. I will post when the renewal goes through.

My DMV reg went thru OK because my deadline for Carb paperwork was after my reg was due.  If your renewal is in August, you can do it on line up to 90 Days in advance.. Might try it now to see if CARB grabs your info somehow thru the DMV Reg process.. ( have you been registered with them previously  in 2023/24 ?), they may put a hold on it.  That happened to me last year but was able to register w/ them and pay the $30 a year they required to put me in compliance with no actual testing done..I then started to receive monthly emails (maybe quarterly) indicating I had one vehicle registered in their system and one vehicle in compliance with the Clean Truck (?) program... I think this is the first year (2025), at least for me, that I actually had to get a physical test..done.. If I can't get a pic or copy of that ECL label, I'll be out of compliance with CARB but will still be OK with DMV..Curious if somehow, eventually I would have to be checked for CARB compliance somehow ( I'll talk w/ CHP somewhere ). If I get the decal I need and submit it, and its after my CARB deadline (June 2025), I'll just pay the fine..

I asked AI ( on a google search), the following question "does CA CARB stop CA DMV registrations for clean truck needs?"

its response
"Assist
Yes, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) requires compliance with the Clean Truck Check program, and the DMV will deny registration for vehicles that are non-compliant or have not reported as compliant. This means that if a vehicle does not meet the Clean Truck Check requirements, it cannot be registered in California.

Take it for what it's worth.....Good Luck, I'd be curious how it works out for you.. here's a link from CARB I was directed to:  Motorhome Fact Sheet – Clean Truck Check | California Air Resources Board..

seems like CA CARB is becoming the overlord for this stuff now..

Any other California folks doing this rodeo by chance..?

Have you tried reaching in/up/down to access it with your cell phone or Go Pro?

You could also contact Caterpillar Corp with your engine serial number--they may be able to look that information up. 877 777-3126.

Mike W, I went thru all that with our 2003 U320.
For me, navigating the CARB website was a chore! as I'm not a "computer guy" . There's so much information that at times was confusing. Anyway it took us about two weeks to get everything done plus I opted for the monthly updates for our vehicle.
