Replacement bay door/entry door handles, Tri-Mark 030-1450

Most of the bay door handles on our 2000 have, as Steve put it, "seen better days".

The rectangular OEM Tri-Mark 030-0450 were discontinued a while back, and Tri-Mark has an updated design, the 030-1450 which "Retrofits with most 030-0450 flush paddle handles" per their website.

Has anyone switched out to these newer design handles "Containing the same proven mechanical details as previous with a modernized look" which "Offers updated styling".

Also, on a 2000's era coach (pre-2002 when the door seems to have changed), does anyone know if the PTL entry door uses the same 030-0450 handle as the bays?  I know the MY2002-5 used a different model, the 030-0400.

Yes, those are the old 030-0450 handles that have been discontinued (and unobtainium) for a while now.  Trimark shows only one P/N configuration remaining and it's not the right one.  Our take-offs from the '03 are long gone.

I'm glad I bought a few take offs from a member that put the chrome ones on.

FWIW, our '97 U295 has 030-0450 handles on the bay doors and a more rounded handle like the 030-1450 in the PTL door.  No idea if it is original or a replacement.

Coming back to confirm the new bay handle design fits.  It definitely has a nicer look to it (seems more flush with the door face.)

Abby at TriMark needed photos of front, rear, and a closeup of the area near the lock cylinder for both locking and non-locking (LP bay) handles.

For our 2000, in the 030-1450 series in low gloss black we needed 20599-05 for the locking bays.  For the non-locking bay (LP), it's 22679-07.

The entry door, per Lindsay at PTL, uses TriMark series 030-1400, p/n 22660-40.  We have not yet confirmed fit on this (have one on order.)  It's the same rounded design as the 030-1450 series.

We were able to source the locking bay handle and the entry door handle online (BABS RV & Marine Supply, Inc. | The Source for Aftermarket RV & Marine Parts) at a good price with free shipping.

Could not find the non-locking version elsewhere, so ordered that one direct from TriMark at retail price + shipping.

Photos below are the new handle 1 and 2, the old handle last.

And further proof this one is done!

The first two doors required no tweaks to get the new handles to fit (both were hinge-style doors); they fit right in or just required a little push. The bus-style doors, however, needed some minor cutout changes to allow them to fit.

The hinged doors all had a chamfer on the upper edge of the opening, which allowed the handle cams a little more room to push up and then swing the bottom in. None of the bus-style doors had this, so you had to add them (sand/file). On a couple, just the chamfer was needed, and a few also required a little sanding on the lower edge, say ~1/8", so the bottom would easily swing in. I only did the outside edges, so the "C" clamp of the handle still had plenty of clamping area.

Anyway, it's an easy enough job; the worst part is the repetition.

Thanks Michelle and Sreve for all the research.

On my coach, I had one bus style doot that would no longer unlock with a key so I needed to get it replaced to prevent a lock out situation.

The new Trimark part number worked perfectly.

Two important points.

Due to the slight oval shape, the relief underct for the latch hinge at the top of the opening needed a couple of file strokes to allow the latch to tip in.

That gave enough clearance to tip the hinge in without the rubber grommet.  I was able to install the rubber grommet after the latch was in by stretching it and slipping it under the latch. It would have required more filing on fiberglass if I tried to mount the latch with the grommet at the same time.
