instrument panel

Hi, sounds like i have to replace both of my air pressure dash gauges
I hate to break things or do damage  , therefore I like to learn before I attempt
can any one tell me how to replace the air pressure gauges on 1998 U295?
i am sure it will need to open or remove the cluster panel, please advise
thanks

I've never removed any of the dash gauges so I don't know how it was done, but am curious.  I hope someone that has done this chimes in!  I've looked at it before and did not see a simple way, but hope there is one.

On our dash, the gauges are mounted to a intermediate aluminum plate, something that would have been bench assembled with all the gauges / wiring installed.  Those VDO gauges install through a panel hole and then have a large white retraining ring/clamp the screws on from the back, securing the gauge to that panel.

That fully assembled panel then appears to have them been aligned and secured behind the decorative instrument panel.  The only way I see to remove a gauge is to loosen the screws/nuts that secure that intermediate plate to the decorative panel.  They need to be apart as far as the depth of the gauge you are trying to remove.

Your pressure gauges should be basic analog gauges,  if you have not done so, do check to see if air is at least getting to the line(s) that attach to them.

I replaced my tach and speedo when I bought the coach. That was 10 years ago and all I can say if there was a bad experience doing it I would remember it, since I don't it remember it can't be that hard.

I wonder if your problem might be the senders.  Stewart Warner 82894 on my unit.  I've had a couple of failures with these.  Available at Summit Racing but they are a little pricey.

His gauges are direct air lines to the tank, no senders. Like Steve said the gauge is between the decorative panel in front and the aluminum panel behind it. Remove the nuts holding the aluminum panel and pull it away from the front and then replace the gauges. It's not too bad of a job.
