Diesel Leak

Have aquired a diesel leak that is coming from around the propane vent hose and one of the bolt heads near the vent hose,  Just had it in foretravel and teck said it looks like if is coming from between the floor layers.  He tightened the connections at the tank but could not find any evidence that they were leaking.  Had a fuel spill after forgetting to replace the cap in mid may.  Anyone heard of this type of spill lasting this long.  It is leaking enough to keep a spot about 8 to 10 inches damp.

On My 2000 I had the filler insert not get enough epoxy and had to replace that since it would leak on sharp turns or when the coach leaned that way.  Thought it was the cap first but it was the actual insert that did not have enough epoxy around it.

Chuck,

Did FT check the caps?  Fuel caps do wear out, which would cause seepage on sharp turns.  Any garage that does state inspections can check caps.

Are you sure its fuel ? How does it smell  ? Can you see a drip on underside panel ?
A leak leaving that big a spot for more than a day or two is pretty big. I would tip the coach to the side of the leak or filler and wash compartment down real good with a degreaser and plenty of water to rinse.  If still showing a spot after a couple days I would investigate further.  Don't forget to check hoses where they pass thru buklhead especially genny fuel hose.
Good Luck

Diesel fuel destroys the Styrofoam between the top and bottom fiberglass sheets used to construct & insulate the very large one-piece the bay floor. I have seen a large repair project at Foretravel where the whole bottom of the bays was being replaced due to a large diesel fuel spill.

Removing the drain plug on the bottom of the fuel tank to remove water and junk will often cause diesel fuel to leak across the bay floor, because the drain plug opening in the floor is not sealed to the fuel tank. Instead, we pump out fuel from the fuel filler cap opening.
