Warning Light Bar

According to my 1996 U270 owners manual page 4.4, the first light on the left side of the warning light bar is "Check Trans".  I have never seen this light illuminate such as when turning the ignition key to "on" before engine start.  Another light which the manual says I have is "Water Temp".  It does not illuminate with initial key on, but does illuminate for a split second when the key is turned enough to crank the engine.  I'm not sure that turning the key to "on" or to "crank" tests these warning lights as the "Level System" light does not come on if it is in the travel mode.  Any U270/U280/U295 owners have any input on this, such as how to test the light, or if it is possible to replace a lamp on the warning light bar?
