99 U320 part identification please

When I lift the engine cover.... there is a black metal box with a radiator like cap on it and what appears to be a glass viewing place near the bottom.... this box is just to the left of the plastic radiator overflow resevoir.

My question is:  What is it and what should it contain?  I'm hoping it is for radiator coolant as I just put some into it.. but then noticed that there is some wording about having a professional maintain something and a reference to what sounds like A/C refrigerant...

That is the metal coolant reservoir - but it should plumb out to a white overflow that you put coolant into...

Dave is correct. 

I made the mistake of opening the pressure cap on this reservoir and it just kept on leaking after that -- even a new cap did not stop the leak.  It persisted until MOT worked their magic on it.  One of their techs used some very fine sandpaper and a flat sanding block to remove what were minute nicks in the brass top of the neck.  It has not leaked since then.  Hopefully, your results will be better.

I now add coolant to the white plastic overflow container.

Thanks... that makes me feel better... I thought I had put coolant into some kind of A/C reservoir .... The plastic overflow thing had coolant level right at the "cold" point which I thought would be correct... but my Silverleaf keeps reporting low coolant level.... and when I took the cap off the black metal box I couldn't feel any liquid in it... so I added about 3/4 gallon of 50/50 coolant...  I won't be starting the engine for a couple more days... so I won't know if the Silverleaf reports low coolant again for a while... It's a lot easier to add to the black box than the overflow container... but I'll start using the overflow container next time...

Check the tube between the plastic overflow tank and the black tank....it may be plugged. The two tanks should work together to keep the coolant at the proper level.
