How to unlock a Defiant dial safe on a 1989 U280

When I bought my coach the safe  was locked and of course I have no combination. I've never had a safe with combination lock so never had issues. Could a lock smith remedy this? Does anyone have a suggestion? I could  use the safe. What would a lock smith do?

Check through all of you documents. It may be in there somewhere.

If you don't find it, contact FOT. With your coach build number, they can probably provide the combination if it was never changed.

I am not sure which combination lock you have but here are some instructions for mine.
I dont know if it will help.

Looking at your profile you own a 1989 U280 so the electronic safe is not what you have.  I think your best bet is to call FOT...have your registation ready to FAX so they can verify you are the owner...Good Luck...

Thanks Barry but Peter is right, has the old dial type, I 've called FT and have left a message. I will go to the coach and get the reg .  I know an old boy that could get in it in a minute but he resides at Huntsville Tx State Penal Institution/25 to 40. Thanks

Faxed title and driver license to Susan at FT and appears she will call call me back with combination. My only suprise is them having it after so many years. I dont have it yet but if possible I believe she will produce it.

Welcome to the world of Foretravel.  Had you bought a Monaco or a Beaver or Country Coach you'd probably be out of luck.

I bought my coach with the safe locked and the previous owner had deceased. F O T could not find the paper work for the safe at that time. I contacted the safe manufacturer Defiant / Rolland Safe Company - 3140 Towerwood Drive - Dallas, TX 75234 / Phone  972.243.3711 . After supplying them with a copy of my drivers lic. and a credit card number, along with the safe serial number, located on the outside of the face, they sent me the correct combination to my safe.  :) :) It had not been changed since it was manufactured.  ;D  No money inside either...  :'( :'(  Cost  $  25.00 billed to my credit card  :(

You are right George but I didn't buy Foretravel by chance, I researched for several years. I will likely buy 1 more coach in my time and it will be built in Texas as well.
